Military Service: Seldon (spelled Silden) Scovil, Jr., served as a sergeant from August 24 to November 11, 1812, in Captain Asa Hutchins' Company, 3rd (Hayes') Regiment, Ohio Militia, during the War of 1812. Captain Hutchins' company contained many men from Vienna Township.[2]

Seldon (sometimes Sheldon or Selden) Scovil married Harriett Truesdell (1794-August 6, 1867) on September 3, 1811, in Vienna.
