Viennapedia

The Encyclopedia of Vienna Township, Trumbull County, Ohio

Content updated 3/16/2024

Viennapedia is a community project initiated and organized in early 2012 by Vienna Historical Society historian, Dr. Shirley Wajda. We hope that you will find answers to your questions about Vienna's history or just learn more about this small township in Trumbull County, Ohio.

This encyclopedia is based on the topics and chapters in the out-of-print bicentennial history of Vienna Township (Vienna, Ohio, "Where We Live and Let Live": Town Four, Range Two of the Connecticut Western Reserve [Apollo, PA: Closson Press, 1999]).  With the increasing accessibility to historical evidence provided by the Internet (digital reproductions of newspapers, for example), a richer and more accurate history of the Township may be compiled and constantly updated here.

Entries which originally appeared in the bicentennial history have been reviewed (when permitted by the author) for accuracy by reviewing the historical evidence and secondary sources and by further research.

We always welcome contributors and suggestions.  Let us know what you wish to know about Vienna's history or participate in this project.  If you have historic materials (photographs, artifacts, film, yearbooks, documents) you would like to share or donate, please email us at inquiry@viennahistory.org.

Do you recognize any of these students? This photo was taken in the early to mid 1920s in front of Vienna Centralized School.

Note that many of the photos and archives donated to the Society have been scanned into CatalogIt, an online database, and may be viewed here.
