The Belmont Motel was owned and operated by Arthur A. Griffin in 1960 and then by Frank and Violet Ziemba from the early 1960s until the late 1980s/early 1990s. [1] The Ziembas lived in the house adjacent to the motel at the time of ownership.
The business operated out of a one-story building with five rooms and was situated about two miles south of Vienna Center along Route 90, now known as Route 193.
Keith Mealy recalls: "It was right across the street from my home in the 1960s. The parking lot was behind the building. I always called it the 'No-Tell Motel,' because I would frequently see cars go in mid-day and leave a few hours later."
Attorney Mark Finamore remembers: "I represented the owner for quite some time. Violet was quite a character! She drank half a can of beer every day and, whenever I visited, she insisted I do the same. I’ll always have fond memories of her. After her passing, she willed the hotel to her best friend, Patty Rush."
The residence still stands at 1355 Youngstown-Kingsville Road. However, after the property was willed to Mrs. Rush, it was sold shortly thereafter and the motel was demolished.
