Beryl Catchpole Baker was a long-time elementary teacher and guidance counselor in the Vienna Schools and, after 1961 in the consolidated Fowler-Vienna Local School District. Baker Elementary School, which opened in 1967, was named in her honor.

Baker, the daughter of Fred W. and Edna Crooks Catchpole, attended grade school in Vienna and graduated from Vienna High School in 1931. She then attended Kent State University, where she earned a Master's degree in guidance and counseling in 1959. She served as guidance counselor and taught elementary grades for the Fowler-Vienna schools until her death in 1964.
